It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The Office of Community Engaged Learning held its
end of the year “CELFibration” this past Friday. This event is to celebrate students from the Community Engaged Learning Facilitator’s (CELF) Program that will be continuing onto different things and graduating. The office started this event as a way to recognize and celebrate the students for all their hard work and efforts throughout their time as a CELF and through their work with the Office of Community Engaged Learning.
For this specific event, students began indulging in the hot chocolate bar! From there, everyone participated in the very random winter themed Kahoots which has always been a fan favorite. To wrap up the semester, students and members of the office participated in a drawing reflection. With these reflections, students were asked to look back on the semester and draw what they thought represented their progress or learning. The main themes of the drawings were change, leadership, community, and growth. As a whole, there were many obstacles that all students faced, and their message was that they were able to do it because they had each other.
Lastly, the tradition of reading the book Yay, You! by Sandra Boynton was read aloud by OCEL’s director Laura. The book represents all the paths and decisions you make and still have to make in the journey we call life. To top the night off, everyone signed the Yay, You! books as yearbooks to send and wish well to those who are continuing onto different things as we head into Spring 2023. It was truly a great event!
