CELF Featured for Giving Tuesday

Updated: Jan 25, 2021

Meet Adriane Clare Distor, one of our Community Engaged Learning Facilitators (CELFs) who was featured on the Lewis Alumni & Friends page, for Giving Tuesday.

Meet Adriane Clare Distor ’22, a member of the CELF program. After enrolling in a CEL course with Dr. Jim Burke last year through which she engaged with the Disability Resource Center in Joliet, Adriane was inspired to take on a bigger role to help #LewisU students find value in volunteering in the same way she did.

“Paying it forward and serving those in need in the community is essential for me because these experiences help me better understand the world. I personally believe that the meaning of life culminates from how one can empathize with others despite the undeniable diversity in our society. Lewis has granted us opportunities to have direct personal encounters with community partners and to reflect introspectively about the holistic purpose of our actions. Paying it forward fundamentally signifies that no one is ever alone in this uncertain world.

I am grateful for you believing in the potential of Lewis students. Through your support, immeasurable opportunities are available to us and those we serve.”

Your gift is bigger than just Lewis; visit alumni.lewisu.edu/Give and pay it forward for #GivingTuesday.
